In July 2022, we hosted 36 trip-takers from three (3) church partners
(Ransom Church – Sioux Falls, SD — Revive Wesleyan, Hamburg, NY — Table Church, Des Moines, IA)
& it was such an incredible week together.

This trip was all about expressing the radical love of Jesus throughout the entire city of Choma.
Over the course of the trip, we were able to serve people all over town.
(i.e. schools, hospitals, non-profits, small businesses, homes, etc.)

We are still reveling in all the goodness that took place during this trip!
It was better than we could’ve dreamed!!!

CITY-WIDE WORSHIP GATHERING

Our first-ever city-wide Love Choma Gathering was UNBELIEVABLE!!! 1,325 people showed up for this special event to worship Jesus & rally together to see our entire city of Choma transformed. We were able to pray over hundreds of people for healing & we also saw numerous people come home to Jesus for the very first time.
IT. WAS. POWERFUL.

We believe that this gathering is just the beginning of a beautiful move of the Holy Spirit that is sweeping the city! God is actively doing things here & we’re so excited to be a part of it.

COMMUNITY HEALTHCARE

We went to pray, encourage, paint & donate medical supplies at the Choma General Hospital & 2 other health clinics in Choma. We had several individuals also get invited to minister & pray for women + their newborn babies at the maternity ward.

COMMUNITY EDUCATION

Our teams were sent to seven (7) different schools to visit with & minister to students. During these visits, we were able to connect and form relationships with the students. Some of our teams performed skits for the students, some played instruments & others spent quality time in small groups reading the Bible. We were able to share stories with each other, answer questions about God, & pray with so many students.

We also held a special lunch for teachers + school administrators that allowed us to connect, encourage & lift them up.

In addition to all of that, we were also able to donate supplies & assist with some small projects. We also were able to distribute over 1,000 bibles + pencils, build & paint playground equipment, & paint an exterior wall at Faithwood Christian School giving it a much-needed facelift!

COMMUNITY OUTREACH

This was the 2nd year in a row that we were able to help the Elijah Center (a local orphanage) during a Love Choma trip! This year, our crew helped paint the interior & exterior of their kitchen area. We also got to spend some quality time playing games & doing crafts with their awesome kids!

YOUTH DAY

Over 400+ youth attended the Love Choma Youth Day event. The goal of the event was to expose the youth in our community to some new things & create spaces for them to learn, ask questions, & HAVE FUN. We set up various “stations” around our base that exposed the youth to learn about a wide range of activities.

STATIONS INCLUDED: Fitness, Art, Music, Career, Hygiene, Intro to Poetice, Gardening, Building, Evangelism, Bracelet Making

WOMEN’S SPA DAY

We hosted the mamas & young ladies from our church family at our coffeehouse & treated them to a spa day. The goal was to specifically bless + love on the people who are always taking care of other people. It was our joy to get to pamper these amazing women for the day!

Manicures + pedicures were given, hair was braided/styled, and we drank lots of coffee while enjoying some yummy snacks. This was a day full of LOTS of smiles & laughter!

PASTOR’S FELLOWSHIP

We hosted a special gathering & fellowship time for the Choma’s Ministers Fellowship. The Choma’s Ministers Fellowship is a group of representatives from the local churches + ministries within Choma. Every week this group comes together to encourage one another, build each other up, & learn how best to advance the Kingdom of God in our city together. During this gathering, we were able to connect with, encourage, & pray for so many leaders.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH

We sent a crew of people over to CADRO (Choma Alcohol & Drug Rehabilitation Organization) to paint their building with a fresh (& very vibrant) coat of paint. It looks amazing & really stands out in the community!

SOLAR-POWERED STREET LIGHTS

We sent crews out to install six (6) solar street lamps in Mwapona Compound. These new solar lights will help make the community more safe & bright!

COMMUNITY-WIDE TRASH CLEANUP

With a massive crew, we swept up our city by removing HUNDREDS of bags of trash! As we took pride in our city, it also inspired onlookers to join us in the trash collection! Together, we helped make our city become a little more beautiful!
