Growth and Excitement!

My name is Jane Mwiinga. I am 18 years old and I come from Choma, Zambia. My experience with the internship has been so exciting being a kind of person who loves discovering and learning new things. It has just been so exciting learning about new cultures including mine and just getting to meet new people from different places. It has also been awesome to discover that despite our differences in culture we have a lot of similarities because we all care for one another and we have similar reasoning. Another interesting part is having mentors that go with us through and through even when we need someone to talk to.

Living in a house with a lot of people with different background and culture has been so challenging because I always try by all means not to annoy anyone there by not having the freedom to say anything at anytime. Almost all homes have rules but living in a house with rules that you know you must follow without fail has been so hard for me because it makes me feel that I need to be checking if am doing things right in fear of breaking rules. Another challenge I have faced is constantly having to do something which gets me really tired and not spend enough time doing things on my schedule and that contradicts with what I usually do at my home. Being out of home for so long has not been easy but thank God am learning.

There has been a lot of spiritual growth in me, for instance, I have learned about fasting and I now do it. I have also grown through the things that we learn during class because the Lord through the teacher has changed the perspective of how I used to see and interpret scripture. The time we spend praying for almost everything at any time be it people, programs, sickness and other things has really made me grow spiritually. I have learnt to be open and vulnerable as a part of my growth and just building relationships with my fellow interns and leaders as well as having an un-offendable heart. I have also developed courage through this program as it allows every individual to participate, not only that I have managed to rededicate my life to Christ and to be baptized by the Holy Spirit.
