Hey! My names are Memory Meshita Mulowa, age 22. I am coming from Livingstone, Zambia, born into a family of three. I am the first born in my family, and I have two siblings: a boy and a girl. I am an intern here at Poetice Zambia.
Week 1 – God Story, Identity, and Freedom.
In the first week, we learned about the God story with Abby and John. This teaching was really good, and I got to learn more about the God story, and some of the things I never knew about the story.
We learned about identity from Daniel and Sarah. Identity is about maturity into who God says I am. This teaching has made me discover who I am in Christ. Freedom and identity work hand in hand. Freedom is a journey of discovering who you are and doing something you want to do without any restrictions.
I got to learn about prayer, discipline, and study, from Mumba and Lillian. Of all spiritual disciplines, prayer is the most important because it ushers us into perpetual communion with the Father. Prayer is the central avenue God uses to transform us. A spiritual discipline is the total transformation of the person. Study is a specific kind of experience in which through careful attention to reality, the mind is enabled to move in a certain direction. And I have learned the mind will always take on an order conforming to the order upon which it is concentrating.
I have learned more about culture. I have learned things I never knew about other cultures. I got to learn about other people’s culture, their do’s and don’ts, and it has been really a good experience to have people from different cultures around me. During Freedom for Africa, I got to learn about the genealogies of us black people and where we come from. I learned that black people are not cursed, and it is time for us to rise up and tell the world that we are not cursed because we are all the same in God’s image. And I have learned more from Pastor Bruce about having confidence and not giving excuses when God is sending you to do something. We should have courage and confidence in everything we do in life because God can use anybody at any time.
