My Amazing Experience

September 9th, 2016 Posted by Immersion Internship - 2016 0 comments on “My Amazing Experience”

My experience during the internship was amazing. The lessons changes my perspective on a lot of things. Going through the 12 disciplines form the book Celebrations of Disciplines added to me spiritual growth. Being a part of the different ministries that EMIZ has was a blessing. I was also honored to be a part of Beat the Drum Zambia for the first time. We also had outreach in Lesotho where we ministered to different people. I have loved my time here!

Agents of Change

Form 45 Entry 702 Fileupload 7My experience during Beat the Drum Zambia was life changing. I watched the movie for the first time and I was reminded that much more has to be done towards HIV/AIDS awareness.

It was heartbreaking to learn the myths behind HIV/AIDS. After training, I taught at Linda Secondary School where the pupils turned out in numbers. We taught about abstinence, purity and God’s way for our lies. I felt really honored to be part of a life changing program.

Reaching out to people in the Kingdom of Lesotho was amazing. A lot of people from Lesotho practice worshiping of ancestral spirits and a lot of them go to church but have no personal relationship with God. We partnered with LXP Lesotho, led by Godfrey and Elizabeth Mossabase. From their home/ ministry base, LXP runs most of their ministries. We were able to serve with a soccer ministry, and kids ministry, and we also held short services for three days in a week where they ministered to people from the village. I was greatly inspired to see how God is using this organization to bring change in that village. I learned that as Christians we are agents of change and in whichever environment we represent God and he is dependent upon us to teach his Word and make disciples. Form 45 Entry 702 Fileupload 8

Embracing the Opportunity

My name is Mumba Mwape and my experience at the Elijah house has been amazing. Waking up everyday to praise God and taking the Word of God out into different ministries is an opportunity I have embraced.

I feel I have grown even more close to God after learning about His heart for missions. As interns at the Elijah house we have been given the privilege to read a book written by Richard S. Foster called Celebration of Discipline. The disciplines that have helped me so far in my spiritual growth are the inward disciplines, which are meditation, prayer, fasting, and study.

Coming from different cultures has been a challenge but I feel that with every time I’ve personally interacted with my friends from the United States and Canada I rose above any cultural barriers. Dividing up my time has also been a challenge since our schedule has been very busy.

The lessons we’ve been having have been life changing for me and have helped me to seek God and constantly be found in His presence.
