I am not too good with words, but I will try to summarize this internship.

This experience for me has been amazing, from day one God has moved in all of our lives as interns and even in our relationships. It’s funny how within just four days of our internship it was like we have known each other forever. For the first week we have grown as a group, stepping on each others toes, embracing each other, and learned from our mistakes.

We have also grown spiritually, learning some spiritual disciplines and how to apply them to our lives. We have not only had lessons in class, but we have experienced practical ways of doing missions through outreach to Lesotho, which was a highlight for me, and through EMIZ programs such as Reach for Life camps and Reach for Life in schools, music camps, and Beat the Drum. It’s amazing just to see how God is working in people’s lives all around the world, and to learn that how his love and grace are sufficient for us all.

Believe me, you will want to do this internship. God bless you all!

The Grace of God

August 3rd, 2016 Posted by Immersion Internship - 2016 0 comments on “The Grace of God”

Hey, it’s me again, Jabulani. The past few weeks have been amazing. My life has been changed by the past few weeks of Beat the Drum and outreach to Lesotho. During Beat the Drum, I saw God moving in the lives of secondary school pupils and how ordinary looking people have extraordinary stories. I just saw how the grace of the Lord changes people.

For both Beat the Drum and outreach it was all about the grace of God. With outreach it was more of a community being changed and being impacted by the little things we did with them and for them. I thank God that I was able to be a part of the great work He is doing in the lives of people from different parts of the world.

Something Beautiful

June 29th, 2016 Posted by Immersion Internship - 2016 0 comments on “Something Beautiful”

Okay, people. Jabulani Hamweene is my name, and I’m 18. I’m so excited about this internship. It’s been an incredible experience. There have been some challenges, though. To be honest, meeting 13 people for the first time and having to live with them for three months is not the easiest thing in the world. And the fact that there are culture differences makes it hard to always know what to say. Some people understand things differently than you do when they are from completely different backgrounds. But the Lord, in His wisdom, brings something beautiful out of it all. Despite being so different, the Lord showed us how similar we are. Because we are all his children in the end. But He has taught me to understand people who weren’t brought up in the same way I was, and He’s shown me that some of the ideas I had about Westerners aren’t true and that we’re not as different as I thought. I’ve learned to appreciate everyone.

The internship has also developed my spiritual life tremendously. I have more time to be with the Lord, to do His work on outreach and through our ministries. I’ve always known that people out there need to be reached, but the need is more extensive than I originally thought. There is a lot of work to do, and the laborers are few. It’s just heartbreaking that people are working to fix things, but it’s nowhere near enough. If you love Jesus and you’re thinking about doing this internship, don’t think twice. It’s going to change your life. Shalom shalom, people!
