A Call to Serve

June 29th, 2018 Posted by Immersion Internship – 2018

Hello everyone! I’m so excited to share my journey here in Africa, it may not be assertive or smooth most of the time (English is my second language). Probably I may burn so many topics before getting to the point but I hope as you read these lines I’m able to transmit the nature of this blog which is to share my journey through this internship here in Choma and God’s power and work over my life and this land.

My name is Dalila Trinidad, I’m originally from a small town in Mexico, and I say originally because these past few years God’s call and purpose has been leading me places, I mean, here I am in Choma. Life when it comes to serving God is not boring and definitively not what we would tend to expect. I have found some of my friends spread around the globe doing ministry or internships let’s say in Huancayo, Peru or in a small town in Myanmar, building casas por Cristo in Mexico, or even here in Africa, and at the end, they found a home in these places while pursuing God. As for myself I dare say that I may already have found a home in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. I found a beautiful community that just loved me and embraced me in a way that helped me heal and go through my most difficult times, then they lifted me up and sent me out to embrace others. I miss them as I type this down, to be honest, but again, I’m standing still with God’s intention and promises for me in the near future.
Anyway, the reason why I’m here is because since I was about 10 years old I had this fire in my heart; so much love and compassion but at that time I didn’t know where it was coming from or what to do with it, it was just there, this dream of being a doctor and going to Africa to help people. I’m not going into deep about how I made it to Africa, but let’s say it took me almost 20 years to come here, well that dream didn’t turn out exactly the same. I became a Chemical Engineer, not a doctor but at least I made it to AFRICA. I do believe that there is no higher call than serving others, and Jesus Christ has planted that seed in me a long time ago and He’s been watering it (for a long time) and it finally has bloomed into existence. God is faithful.
As I keep updating my blog, I want to encourage you if you ever feel the call to do ministry or helping others someway or somehow to pursue that dream. Everything within you will shift, I promise you, either you are coming here because you kinda feel the calling or you just want a nice trip with a bunch of Christians or maybe you just want to see lions in the wild or the Victoria Falls, please do. I promise that God is already working something in between for you. You will never know what is like putting your feet in a foreign land and blending with the sound of different dialogues and languages, as you meet with different faces, or let’s say going for a walk in Kabanana or Mwapona trying to pick some flowers to make a nice bouquet and in the process meeting with lots of kids coming from everywhere happily to join and help, and also the best hugs

They say that the meaning of life is to find your gift and the purpose of life is to give it away which pretty much looks like serving others. ‘
Till next time. Peace out!!
